Fam Bam Thursday

While the girls were at school, the ‘rents and I went over to Uncle Cheffy at Molito for lunch. We ordered chili garlic prawns, ribs and all meat barbequed panizza! I just ate the pizza itself though. Teehee, forever choosy. So crispy thin! I think I’ll be craving for them again all weekend.

And then we found some little people at home:

Five Things #5: The past few weeks in munches and pages

I just couldn’t detach myself from The Fault In Our Stars, even if I had read it almost a month before. I think it’s partly because of its pretty cover.

Johnny Rockets’ opening night at ATC. Milkshakes to die for!

A late friday afternoon with chocolate milk and the last few pages of Paper Towns.

With Ana and Andrea, having our own dinner date on the night of our parents’ anniversary.

The perfect breakfast at Gram’s: bacon, sunny-side up and sweet baby pancakes!

hearty breakfast

At 10 in the morning, I woke up to the smell of pancakes wafting into my room and then knew I wouldn’t be going back to sleep. I haven’t been not used to breakfast as an actual meal anymore ever since I moved to the dorm (unless you count the occasional ten-minutes-before-class-shove-bowl-of-oatmeal-in-microwave-faster-im-late breakfast) so it was a treat being home early for the weekend!

Mom took out the heart-shaped cutter and we all took turns frying our own pancakes. And of course there was bacon. Bacon.

Home this Christmas

Food, glorious, food! (A Marquez gathering would never be complete without shrimp!) The entire family came over for a triple celebration - from Lola’s 72nd birthday to Tita Tin and Tito Gary’s anniversary, and of course, Christmas! It was a night of singing, dougie dancing and eating. Mom sure knows how to prepare a feast!

My fave freshly baked bread rolls.

Butter in Christmas shapes!

Mom makes the best creamy leche flan.

I don’t know what started this. But we do it for the pictures every year. Haha. I love my family! ♥ Spending New Year’s Eve with them again later! :)

Oreo Cheesecake Cupcakes

Ever since mom first tried out this recipe a few years ago, I’ve been hooked! (Especially because they have whole oreos at the bottom!) We usually make them during the holiday season, but now I think we should have them all year round. It’s so simple to whip up! Honestly, it’s just the waiting that’s most difficult for me because they need hours to cool in the fridge after they’ve been baked. Heehee. This is the batch we made last week for a Christmas party. Give it a try! :)

Recipe (from Martha Stewart’s Cupcakes):

  • 42 cream-filled sandwich cookies, such as Oreos, 30 left whole, and 12 coarsely chopped
  • 2 pounds cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Pinch of salt

1. Preheat oven to 275 degrees. Line standard muffin tins with paper liners. Place 1 whole cookie in the bottom of each lined cup.

2. With an electric mixer on medium high-speed, beat cream cheese until smooth, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Gradually add sugar, and beat until combined. Beat in vanilla.

3. Drizzle in eggs, a bit at a time, beating to combine and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Beat in sour cream and salt. Stir in chopped cookies by hand.

4. Divide batter evenly among cookie-lined cups, filling each almost to the top. Bake, rotating pan halfway through, until filling is set, about 22 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Refrigerate at least 4 hours (or up to overnight). Remove from tins just before serving.

Waffle Wednesday

Nom nom chocolate marble!

Us girls gathered again from all corners of Manila for a sleepover that last holiday, November 30. At midnight, I ordered my usual Mcdonald’s delivery to console myself for being too late to make a last order at BonChon that night. (I even ran. #tears) The next day, the girls also made me feel better by eating at Pancake House to satisfy my other constant craving - waffles (which only worsened after the one over at Starbucks didn’t make up for it. Heehee. Choosy.) Happy tummies!

I think we spent more time together in just these few months than the past couple of years. I’ll miss being complete again because it’s Erika’s turn to go to Singapore for the NUS exchange program next year. So excited for her! :)

Mmm.. Craving for pan chicken and a chocolate marble waffle again now.

At 4am this morning, Via and I were randomly looking through the McDonald’s US breakfast menu. There was one that stood out the most: the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit (left). Perfection. If Manila had that, I’d finally get around to eating breakfast everyday!

Frrrozen Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 6 half-ounce pieces of a variety of your favorite chocolates
  • 2 teaspoons store bought hot chocolate mix
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 cups ice
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings

Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place it in the top of a double boiler over simmering water, stirring occasionally until melted (I just used the microwave). Add the cocoa and sugar, stirring constantly until thoroughly blended. Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of the milk and stir until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

In a blender place the remaining cup of milk, the room temperature chocolate mixture, and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Enjoy with a spoon or a straw.. or both!

Flawless Bloggers’ Night @ Borough, Podium

On the 29th of September, I got to meet and chat with great company and taste the best American comfort food at Borough, Podium to kick off Flawless’ 10-week countdown to National Flawless Day, its 10th anniversary. I just have to say that Borough’s ambiance and interiors are lovely - soft floral printed seats, vintage pieces on shelf cases, New York life in frames hung rather careless on the walls (I fought this urge to straighten them).

And the food, glorious! We had Grilled Cheese sandwiches and Tomato Soup for starters, Beer Battered Fish and Chips for main, and the most delightful Mom’s Milk and Cookies for dessert.

Pink, pink, pink!

It was also a night of catching up with my best friend Bea.

Shen, Brigitte, Belle, Josh, me, Isa of Flawless, Char, Regina, Angelique, Say, and Janica.

And of course, we just had to order another round of milk and cookies before we left. There’s just something about the milk!

Each of us went home with with fab beauty products and GCs. I can’t wait to visit one of the branches for an afternoon of pampering. Kristine says I’ll love it because everything is pink. I just can’t get enough!

Flawless is starting the first week of the countdown with its Forever White collection at 40% off! I think I’ll try the Body Bleach Scrub after that week of basking under Bohol sun. Haha. And I’m definitely going back to Borough! ;)

The other week right after Friday’s U-Night, Nic, Jas and I went to Chocolatier along Jupiter St. to satisfy our sweet cravings. I died. The moment I opened their menu, I squealed. The sweetest and yummiest words jumped out of its pages. And of course, all had their signature ingredient - chocolate. Even their pasta had chocolate! That’s what Jas got, while Nic had the pancakes and a nutella milkshake.

I, on the other hand, ordered the one thing that sent me to heaven. Never did I imagine that just one dessert could be named with four of my favorite words in the entire vocabulary. Ferrero Nutella Hazelnut Waffles. To die for. I couldn’t have been happier! I was all giggles that night.

I also found out that the Ferrero Rocher bouquet I saw here on tumblr could be found there! Definitely need to go back with my camera and try more of their chocolate creations!

Layers of crushed oreos, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, and finally topped with chocolate chips and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup. ;)

Breakfast in bed: SPAM. It would have to be the second on my list of food I could live on. (Second to shrimp!) I grew up eating it. Brings back memories of my little bro too. :) It looks little too well done here though.
Oh and this is the first day we’re using Christmas plates and glasses and everything at home. Mom’s halfway at decorating the whole house already. This year went by pretty fast.

Dinner is served! Mwahaha. Oh how I missed twister fries. Now how am I supposed to stay away from Mcdo for the rest of the year.
Random fact about me: I do gravy with my fries and nuggets. :)
