Room Revamp: Paris is always a good idea

I love being on the move. After staying in Singapore for five months and along Taft Avenue for a year, I’m back home. I now have more time with the fam - kulit sisters, yummy home-cooked meals and fresh air!

Moving back felt like the perfect chance for a room revamp. And being the hoarder that I am, the things that I’ve accumulated over that time called for it too! My room is now full of Paris, Audrey Hepburn, my childhood, and pops of color amid black and white. :)

I swapped beds with my sisters after getting used to a single bed and the soft mattress. (Goodbye, chocolate bar headboard.)

More space for a chair (from the living room teehee) recently upholstered in a beautiful houndstooth!

The bed brought with it so much space that I also took the bookshelf from my sisters’ room haha! They used it for their toy boxes. I arranged my books by color for a neat OC feel.

The mini mannequin that I will never regret buying from the Cuenca bazaar for P100. And my little mermaid thingamabob that I brought home after watching its Disney on Ice show about ten years ago. :)

My beloved Little Mermaid (from my dear friend Kye) and Anastasia wind-up musical jewelry boxes! :)

Finally hung the little Paris frames on the wall.

My first tile painting from an art class in elementary, thus the huge ‘Bea’ signature.

Nic got me the red Keep Calm for my birthday, not knowing that I bought one a few days before. They only emphasize how much I want to see the world!

Here is the before of my room. Plus my first dorm and second dorm. :)

Goodbye, second home

Last week, I said goodbye to my dorm (-see how much stuff my desk had accumulated over the year) and hello to staying back at home down South for next school year - my last! (I’ll miss you Via, roomie. Her bed up there is already stripped for the summer she’s out haha.) And moving back home, meant change once again. I need a new room look! :) I’m still in the process now of spring cleaning and arranging. Making a new home post once it’s done, yey!

Here’s one corner of my room earlier today. :)

Where the heart is

A full length tribute post to my room at home (because it’s jealous of my present and previous dorms). This is how it looked before I left the country in January. But now it’s a bit empty and boring because I brought everything to my dorm in Taft. After all the moving this year, sometimes I think I have no permanent place. Haha. I hope that’s a good sign. (Europe, here I come!)

Remembering: White Party, December 2010

Before I left for Singapore, mom and I organized a dinner party at home with close friends and family to celebrate my birthday a month in advance and the debut I never had. A long table was set up outdoors under sheer canopies and lanterns, shiny centerpieces, white balloons all over the ground.

The night stayed young and so did I! It was full of music, singing, stargazing, letters, delicious food and lovely company. Looking at these photos makes me want to do it all over again. Christmas is fast approaching!

The new second home: Taft, Manila

Now that the spring exchange program is over, a new season begins for me back in La Salle! A couple of weeks after moving from Singapore to Manila, I packed all my bags again to move to Taft. My parents were gracious to let me stay at a dorm (with Via, who’s coming back from SG soon!) after two years of commuting from the mountains to school. I was so excited to fix up a new room again. Here it is:

I instantly fell in love with these three when I spotted them at SM department store!

There’s no kitchen though - just a microwave and a fridge. I cooked spam with the microwave the other night. It didn’t turn out too well. Haha.

In this little white chinese take-away box was once the most wonderful scoop of creamy dark chocolate ice cream. I’d always end Sundays in Singapore with it!

I found these lovely things at Twirls, ATC. A cupcake coin saver and a teacup with Audrey Hepburn in the Roman Holiday, one of my faves.

These photos have been with me wherever I moved, just like my lanterns. Heehee.

Psalm 4:7. I am loving this verse.

I’m still deciding whether or not to put up my string of polaroids on the side wall. But so far, I’m settled and glad to be living beside the university!

See my previous homes: here, here and here. :)

My second home: NUS, Singapore

I think I looked forward to decorating my dorm more than actually studying here. Haha! Here’s a glimpse of my home away from home (particularly designed to prevent homesickness). :)

The elevators, gates and doors are accessed through this transponder. You click it that way, the knob thing makes a beep sound, then you turn the knob to lock or unlock. The boss! I love it here. :) But I still miss my real bed. :(

It’s then and there that I forget whatever I’m worried about. Sheltered within the corners of my room and tented more so under the sheer canopy. Lights are out, even outside, except the warm glow of little lanterns above my head. I’m alone, but not a tad bit lonely.

Finally found the time to take a few shots of my room! (And maybe tidy it up a bit. Hee) In response to this and this. Thank you guys for the suggestion. :)
ETA: @supermanexists: Beige, pink, and green throw pillowcases from SM Dept Store. I made the white one. :)) Big pillowcases from I um forgot. Lights from Gourdo’s, on sale. :)
